Waste Water Treatement Plant Break
A water break inside the waste water treatment plant in Zanesville will be an expensive fix for the the city.
Public Service Director Mike Sims says the break happened last week, but caused quite a bit of damage.
"When the water broke, it drenched the ceiling down into the electrical panel and shorted out four of our variable frequency drives," he said. "It was a whole wall of operating panels."
Sims said the break prohibited the plant from moving affluent properly through the plant. They were able to bring in emergency pumps and people to handle the situation, but it’s going to cost at least $60,000.
"It’s a very expensive fix," he said. "We did turn it into the insurance company. We haven’t heard back yet on whether it’s covered or not covered, however i believe it ought to be as far as a break in a building."
Even if the insurance company won’t pay for the break, there are funds set aside for emergencies like this one.
