Weaver Newborn Baby Trial Starts Tuesday
The trial of a former Muskingum University student charged in the death of her newborn baby starts Tuesday.
21-year-old Emile Weaver of Clarington, Ohio faces multiple charges including aggravated murder, gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
In April of 2015 the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by University Police requesting assistance with a report of a newborn baby that has been found dead on campus.
The Muskingum County Coroner ruled that the baby was alive at birth and it had been found by authorities in a tightly closed plastic bag in a trash receptacle and had died from asphyxiation.
If Weaver is convicted of the charges against her she will face life in prison with no parole.
Jury selection begins Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.
