ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local business has officially moved onto Maple Avenue and today was their grand opening.

Webb Financial Group held their ribbon cutting ceremony for their new office location on 1146 Maple Avenue. Owner Scott Webb said he was interested in moving locations and kept seeing an abandoned historical building on the corner of Maple Avenue and Adair Avenue intersection.

“There was a big billboard by [Lepi & Associates Real Estate Services] and they said ‘look put your sign there’ and I said ‘yep my signs going there,” Webb said. “I didn’t think I’d have any interest, but the building looked interesting. So I stopped by, took a walk through and knew this was going to be a place that I was going to be in someday.”

The building was originally constructed in 1879 after George Adams passed away and his wife Mary Adams moved to Zanesville from the Trinway Mansion also known as the Historic Prospect Place Estate.

“Mary Adams went ahead moved to Zanesville and had this house built for her,” Webb said. “I just wanted to keep up the tradition of this building. Make it nice, especially for the Historical Society and use this as a gift to give back to Zanesville.”

The decision in moving locations occurred when businesses didn’t know that Webb Financial Group had been originally located downtown on Market street.

“We needed more exposure, if somebody, a business leader in the community doesn’t know where we’re located,” Webb said. “I knew we had to be up where people could see our building and see exposure. We probably will be able to double our exposure rate or even triple it up here.”

Next Webb is hoping to expand their workforce and hire within the next three to five years.
