Carr Center Cake Auction

The 32nd annual Carr Center Cake Auction took place this week at the Colony Square Mall in Zanesville.

The auction subsidizes programs throughout the year that assist people across the community.

Medicaid Cuts Amidst the Opioid Epidemic

Ohio will be moving addiction services for low income families into Medicaid managed care before July1st.

Muskingum Behavioral Health C.E.O. Steve Carrel said the budget cuts will affect their most effective program.

The cuts leave communities to fend for themselves and figure out solutions on their own.

Perry County has established a drug court program that tracks convicted drug users to ensure they are receiving needed treatments and helpful support.

 

Former Police Officer Pleads Guilty

A former local police officer charged with crimes involving a teenager changed his plea to guilty.

41-year-old Trevor Fusner pled guilty to six counts of Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity Oriented Material or Performance.

 

Former Teacher Pleads Guilty

A former Maysville Local School District substitute teacher charged with crimes involving a minor changed her plea to guilty.

23-year-old Darci Lake Monday pled guilty to one count of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor and four counts of Gross Sexual Imposition.

 

6th Street Bridge Reopened

The 6th Street Bridge, which was closed on April 16, reopened Friday, after the 20-day scheduled closure was cut in half.

The bridge had patchwork performed on its concrete surface and its steel grates replaced.

 

Suicide Prevention Walk and Awareness Meal

A 5k Suicide prevention walk called ‘You Are Not Alone,’ will be held from noon to three on Sunday, May 6, at the Maysville High School track. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for students. All proceeds will be donated to the Muskingum County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

Volunteers and donations are needed for a suicide awareness meal set for 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Christ Table, located at 28 S. 6th Street in Zanesville. For more information call 740-452-9766.

 

Plant and Seed Give Away

A plant and seed giveaway will take place at the Brighton Presbyterian Church, located at 771 Lexington Avenue in Zanesville, on Saturday, May 5, from 10a.m to 1p.m.

Get all the free plants and seeds you will need to start your very own garden.

 

Free Movie

The John McIntire Library in Zanesville will be presenting a new animated movie 2p.m. Saturday, May 5. Spend the afternoon with the family watching Ferdinand, based on the classic children’s story about a misunderstood bull.
