The 32nd Annual Carr Center Cake Auction

Nearly 400 cakes were auctioned off recently during the 32nd Annual Carr Center Cake Auction.

The auction raised over $117,000, almost $7,500 more in proceeds than 2017.

 

Muskingum County K-12 Student Art Exhibit

The American Association of University Women, the Community Bank, and the Ohio Arts Council are hosting the Muskingum County K-12 Student Art Exhibition at the Zanesville Museum of Art.

The Exhibit will run through May 19.

 

Muskingum County Appoints New Engineer

Muskingum County Republican Party Chairman Pat Hennessey announced the appointment of Noble County Engineer Mark Eicher to fill the vacant county engineer seat.

Eicher served as Muskingum County Deputy Engineer for two years before winning the Noble County seat.

 

Muskingum Valley League Expansion

After the recent announcement of Coshocton, Meadowbrook, and Riverview high schools to the Muskingum Valley League, plans are being announced by MVL commissioner Scott Welker to split the league into two, six-team divisions.

The split will divide the league by school size. Larger schools, such as Tri-Valley, Sheridan, Maysville, John Glenn, Philo and Riverview will be in one division; while smaller schools like: Crooksville, West Muskingum, New Lexington, Morgan, Coshocton and Meadowbrook will be in the other.

 

Longaberger Ceases Operations

The Longaberger Company, which was once a billion-dollar industry that employed over 8,000 people appears to be finished.

A statement released by the company announced that a senior lender has been seizing operating cash and preventing the company from making statutorily-required tax payments.

The company is scrambling to secure additional capital and will resume normal operations once current issues are resolved.

 

Ohio Primary Elections

Tuesday, May 8, marks Ohio Primary Election Day.

Winners of the Primary Election are nominated to represent their party when they run for their seats during the General Election in November.

 

Charity Golf Outing

The Cornerstone Full Gospel Church is asking for people to come participate in a golf outing at Vista Golf Course to support the church’s upcoming mission trip to aid West Virginians still recovering from mass flooding that occurred in 2016.

The outing will take place Saturday, May 12, with registration at 8 a.m. and tee time at 9. Entrance fee will be $200 with plenty of cash and door prizes.
