West Muskingum 12-year-old Arrested After Bomb Threat

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says a 12-year-old West Muskingum Middle School student has been taken into custody after he made a bomb threat against the school. Lutz says on Friday he spoke to the student body on the seriousness of making school threats. Shortly after the talk two students came forward and reported that on Wednesday they heard a student make a threat to blow up the school. School officials reported that to authorities. Sheriff’s deputies investigated and took a 7th grade student into custody. The student will be held at the Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center and is awaiting formal charges. The Sheriff says it does not appear any weapons were brought onto school property.
