West Muskingum Elementary Holds Luau Festival Saturday

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — West Muskingum Elementary will be hosting their Luau Festival at the school tomorrow afternoon.
Committee Chair Person Michelle Check says the festival takes several months to put together with a lot of work involved including going out and collecting donations, putting together games, and working on decorations.
“We have inflatables for the kids to play on, we’ve got a lot of different festival games, they can earn tokens to buy prizes. They have the ‘Cake Walk’ and we have a great silent auction, we’ve collected donations from a lot of our families and from area businesses that have contributed. So we are hoping all our families come out and support us and just have a lot of fun,” said Check.
Along with games and inflatables, the silent auction includes great prizes for everyone. Gift basket themes include Crayola, Pets, Mother’s Day, Ohio State, Lego, Easter, and more. Check also says that many local businesses have chipped in gift cards and other merchandise to give away, in addition to $150 in cash prizes that will be given away.
Check also adds that the festival is an opportunity for locals to come out and see their new elementary school for the first time if they haven’t already, while thanking the community and families for their support.
“This is the first year that the school has been open so it is really exciting to come in and see the new building. it’s a fun place for the kids to be, it’s colorful and youthful and just a great place for them. We’re just really grateful to have the support of our community and our families, it’s wonderful,” said Check.
The festival will take place from 11-3 and attendees can go to the main elementary school. Game tickets are 4 for $1.00, or you can purchase a wristband for unlimited games and inflatables for $25.00.
