ZANESVILLE, Ohio- West Muskingum Feeds will be moving its program indoors for the winter season.

West Muskingum Feeds is a program that partners with Mid-Ohio Foodbanks to feed those in Muskingum County that don’t have enough food. Usually the program is held outside at the administration center, but it will be inside of West Muskingum High School during the cold months. The move inside will bring a shift in traffic.

“So there will be a big change in the flow of traffic. It’s going to be…there’s going to be a lot more traffic because…this month there’s going to be an archery shoot,” said Otto Ridenour a West Muskingum Feeds Volunteer. “And there might be other conflicts during the months. So people have to park up near the high school and just be careful about that.”

Not only will traffic outdoors be affected, but traffic inside the school will be too. There will be signs inside helping direct people to the food tables. There will also be volunteers helping out. The program typically has at least 30 volunteers made up of students, parents, and teachers. Ridenour has been volunteering for the last two years.

“It’s really about helping the community because you see the faces of these people when we help them every month and it really feels…it really helps warm your heart up because you know that you’re helping them survive,” said Ridenour.

The program is held the first Saturday of each month and starts around 8 a.m. The building is handicap accessible for those needing assistance.
