ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Westwood Baptist Church wants to help kids learn about the ‘coolest’ book on the planet with their vacation Bible school.

The theme for their program this year is ‘Operation Arctic.’ The school will take place June 11th to the 15th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to all youth.

Lisa Marshall, a vacation Bible school volunteer, said youth outreach is the main goal and ages two through 6th grade are welcome.

“It’s really teaching them more about God, more about the Bible, getting them excited through the theme which is ‘Operation Arctic’ and so they’ll see different types of animal themes throughout each evening and try to get them excited to learn more about God and the Bible,” said Marshall.

The school is free, however, each year the church chooses a charity, or a mission project, to donate money to. This year’s choice was Children’s Hunger Fund.

“This is an organization that has donated $1 billion worldwide already to childhood hunger. And so we encourage our children to bring their offering each evening because every 25 cents they bring will be donated towards one meal for a child with that organization,” said Marshall.

According to their website, the Children’s Hunger Fund’s mission is to deliver hope to suffering children by equipping local churches for gospel-centered mercy ministry.

Marshall said that by choosing a charity to donate to, it teaches the children about giving back and helping others.
