Why one man feels it’s important to vote
It’s finally here. Election day officially started at 6:30 this morning and continues until 7:30 tonight.
People have been voting all day. We caught up with two residents who cast their ballots this afternoon. Paul Shannon and his wife have been voting in each election since they can remember. Paul said that’s because he feels it’s necessary.
"It’s important to express one’s own views, so we don’t miss the opportunity to do that," said Shannon. "Everybody should vote at every election."
Paul has lived in Zanesville since 1991, and he feels that voting is not always about sweeping change of the government but about expressing his opinion.
"We have to get the right people in there, the right issues passed and keep the progress going," said Shannon.
We’ll be bringing you the results from today’s election tonight on WHIZ-TV, on our radio stations, AM 1240, Highway 103 and Z92 and also right here on our website.
