Wildlife Conference Returning to ZSC
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Southeast Ohio is a rural region that is abundant with many species of wildlife.
Zane State College Wildlife Conservation Professor Al Parker announced an event that helps familiarize the public with some of Ohio’s natural inhabitants and enlighten them by showcasing their specific behaviors and capabilities.
“Well the Wildlife Conference is something we started prior to Covid. Had it going a couple of years, Covid hit and so we stalled it out for a while but now it’s… we’re bringing it back. And it’s going to be for just people who are interested in what’s going on with wildlife. So we have people coming in and talking about different topics… having to do with wildlife of our area,” Parker said.
The event is aimed at anyone interested in Ohio’s outdoors and will include topics such as managing fish ponds, mushroom hunting, and creating area’s on your property to draw wildlife.
“There’s a talk on barn owls… or owls of Ohio. There’s also another one on bobcats, which is something a lot of people are interested nowadays. Have one on… We have them also on things that are kind of obscure and unknown, like the spadefoot toad. This is a great opportunity to find other people who are interested in wildlife as well. Find out contacts and folks that you can find more information about specific things having to do with wildlife in our area,” Parker said.
Registration is required by Friday, March 22, for the $25 dollar event that will be held from 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Zane State College Campus Center and is sponsored by the Muskingum and Guernsey County Soil and Water Conservancy Districts along with the Ohio Division of Fish and Wildlife.
