William “Bill” LeRoy, 89, of Portersville, died January 25, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital following an extended illness. William was born April 24, 1924 in Rendville, OH, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Winnenberg LeRoy.
He retired from Phillips Ind. Of Malta, OH, and was a U.S. Marine Air Force Veteran of World War II. He graduated from McCluney High School and was a member of the Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame. William was a member of the New Lexington Congregation of Jehovah Witness located at the 6 mile turn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Betty LeRoy; son, William R. (Angie) LeRoy of Crooksville; step-children, Gary (Mary) Martin, Millington, TN, Jeff (Grace) Lipps of Crooksville and Charles Martin of Roseville; brother, Roger (Norma) LeRoy of Lancaster; sister, Henrietta Robbins of Zanesville; brother-in-law, Lawrence Watson of Crooksville; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by step-son, Richard Bateson; brothers, Tom, Harry “Hootie” and Anthony “Butch” LeRoy and sisters, Louise Barringer, Mary Jo Barker, Francine Inman, Margaret LeRoy and Florabelle Watson.
