William Leroy Mason (February 23, 1930 – March 6, 2010)

William Leroy Mason, 80, of Philo, passed away at 3:37 pm Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Genesis Hospital, Good Samaritan Campus.

William was born February 23, 1930 in Philo, the son of the late Leroy and Helen (Craig) Mason. He was a member of Anchor Lodge F&AM #283, Amrou Grotto, Member of St. Thomas Church and he served his country in the US Marine Corps, serving in Korea as Staff Sgt. 3rd Battalion, 1st Regiment, 1st Division in a recon unit where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with Combat V, Korean Service Metal with 3 Stars and the United Nations Service Metal.

William is survived by his son, former Mayor of Zanesville, Don (Danielle) Mason of Zanesville, Michael Wiilliam Mason of Tampa, FL, Daniel David (Erin) Mason of Amherst, OH, Mary Jo (John) Townsend of Dublin, OH, Elizabeth Kay Mason of Tampa, FL, 9Grandchildren, his brothers George (Ada) Mason of Visalia, CA, David (Karen) Mason of DeKalb, IL; his sister-in-law Arlys Mason of SC.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Gorby Mason.

Anchor Lodge will hold Masonic services at 7:45 pm Monday evening.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm today March 8th at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with Father Pius Pietrzyk as celebrant. Burial will be 10 am Thursday in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors from George Selsam Post #1058 and the US Marine Corps Honor Guard.
