William R. “Bill” McAtee (May 3, 1922 – May 17, 2012)

William R. “Bill” McAtee, 90, of Zanesville, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born May 3, 1922, in Cambridge, OH, a son of the late Charles B. and Iva Icil Williams McAtee. He retired in 1984 as the maintenance supervisor for Muskingum College. He enjoyed traveling, wood working, golfing, fishing, playing cards and camping with very close friends. He was a member of the VFW and proudly served our country and defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Catherine McCaig McAtee, whom he married February 14, 1942, of the home; a daughter, Sandra Zemba of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Beth Calihan of Zanesville, Michelle Shields of Huber Heights, OH and Patrick Zemba of West Union, OH; six great grandchildren; and two nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lee McAtee.

No calling hours will be held. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE.
