Windy Conditions Likely for Saturday

Wind Alerts

(WHIZ-TV) – A strong low pressure system will push a cold front through our region as we head into the day on Saturday.

Winds will begin to increase late Friday Night with gusts up to 30 mph possible from the southwest after midnight. The winds will continue to increase throughout the first half of the day on Saturday.

As the cold front approaches our region, winds may very well gust upwards of 40 mph from the southwest, and then west during the late morning and afternoon, with even higher gusts possible north of I-70.

Downed tree limbs will be possible across the region, and should they fall in the right places, then localized power outages will be possible. Objects such as trashcans and other light objects kept outdoors should be brought indoors.

In addition, this cold front will also bring rain showers and possibly some thunderstorms into the region Friday Night and into Saturday. Some of these thunderstorms may end up being strong to severe in parts of the state.

Stay tuned to WHIZ-TV for the latest!

That’s your weather!
