Winter Storm Arrives with Snow and Ice

Storm

The Winter Storm has arrived in Zanesville and the rest of Ohio. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area. It means heavy snow with some areas also getting freezing rain and sleet at times. Snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches and ice accumulations are expected. The Ohio Department of Transportation is on the road with over 100 snow plows in east central Ohio. Muskingum County O-dot manager Phil Valentine says he has 19 crew members on the road in snow plows working to deal with the storm. O-dot is asking drivers to give plows enough room to do their jobs. Zanesville Highway Patrol Lt. Matt Boyd says drivers need to remember the basics when dealing with poor driving conditions and that includes leaving a safe distance between you and the vehicle you are following. Boyd also says just because the speed limit is 55 miles an hour doesn’t meal you have to drive that speed. In Ice and Snow…Take is Slow. Snow Emergencies are in effect in east central Ohio.
