Winter Storm To Arrive Sunday into Monday
A clipper system is going to move out of the Upper Midwest tonight and will move into the Ohio Valley on Sunday into Sunday night. We can expect a wintry mix to begin after lunchtime. Areas well north will start out as all snow, otherwise we can expect a wintry mix and even some rain, especially south of I-70. The rain/snow line will slowly push to the south through the rest of the day and into the evening hours. The steadiest precipitation is going to occur between about 4 p.m. Sunday and 4 a.m. Monday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s and then begin to drop back to near the freezing mark by late in the day into the evening hours.
The colder air will continue to work into the area Sunday night and other locations seeing a wintry mix south of I-70 will begin to pick up more snow. Right now it looks like areas along and north of I-70 can expect about 3-5 inches and there could be a few isolated locations that pick up 6 inches within this area. Areas south of I-70 can expect 1-3 inches. This is going to be a wet heavy snow that is going to stick to everything, unlike the dry powdery snowfall we had earlier in the month.
Expect a messy morning commute on Monday and some school cancellations are likely. Snow showers will linger into Monday morning and colder air will begin to move in.
