Woman, 40, shot to death after street confrontation

CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) — A woman was shot to death after a confrontation with a passenger in a car on a Cleveland street, police said.

Cleveland police said the 40-year-old woman exchanged words with a passenger of a speeding vehicle that reportedly almost struck a child at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday. The passenger then got out and fired, police said.

Officers called to the scene found the victim with a gunshot wound to the back, police said. They provided first aid and an ambulance took the woman to Metro, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

The victim’s name wasn’t released and no arrests were immediately reported.

On August 8, 2020 at approximately 1045pm, officers responded to 3919 E. 67th street for a female shot. Upon arrival the officers rendered first aid until the arrival of EMS. The victim was taken to Metro for treatment where she was later pronounced deceased. On scene, it was learned that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with the passenger in a vehicle that was speeding. The vehicle reportedly almost struck a child. The vehicle stopped at E. 67th Street and Worley and the passenger and victim exchanged words. The passenger exited the vehicle and fired a shot. Additional information is not yet available. This matter remains under investigation.
