Women of Achievement nominations needed

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Women of Achievement Event Committee is in need of nominations for the 2017 award.

The award recognizes outstanding women in the community.

Stacey Russell, Women of Achievement Steering Committee member, said they’re looking for nominations to empower women and showcase them.

“They’re role models in the community, they are encouraging other to be diverse in their thoughts and thinking and be role models for others in the community,” said Russell.

Russell was the recipient of the Women of Achievement Award in 2010. She said it was a fantastic experience.

“The best part of the entire process is to hear the inspiring stories of other people in the community and the things that they’re doing,” said Russell.

Russell said that many of the recipients are humbled by the nominations and never expected recognition.

“There are people all over this community that are doing things that you don’t know anything about because they don’t celebrate themselves and this gives us a chance to celebrate women in our community,” said Russell.

Forms to submit nominations are available at Muskingum Family Y, Zane State College or Ohio University Zanesville websites.

Those selected will be honored at the Women of Achievement banquet on April 11th at 6 p.m. at the Ohio University Zanesville/ Zane State College Campus Center.
