MCCONNELSVILLE, Ohio-  The International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers union are on strike at the Mahle plant in Mcconnelsville.

The strike started at 12:01 am on Monday. There were more that 50 people picketing outside the plant. Mahle manufactures various engine components. There was an orange, no trespassing, fence around the outside of Mahle. Spokesperson, John Carr, said the employees are looking for better wages. He also said they are striking for a change in procedure when a plant is closed. Currently, when a plant is shut down the employees are told afterward, and then they are laid off. They want seniority, performance, and skills to play a factor, if downsizing occurs. Mahle has declined to comment at this time.
