Y Bridge Light Fixtures Installed

Y Bridge Lights Story

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Y Bridge is going to be looking a little brighter very soon.

The lighting project includes light fixtures to be set up on the Y Bridge and the Sixth Street Bridge. Crews from Nelson’s Seasonal Decor have installed 24 RGB LED fixtures that are programmable and change in color for any specific event or holiday. The installation on the bridge was a three week project, but it took a year and a half to plan and prepare for the project.

“We used a under bridge inspection truck to install all the lights. It took about three weeks,” said Operations Director, Nick Devore.

“Well over the three week process of putting this together these guys put in about three quarters of a mile of conn to it. And about a mile and a half of actual wiring to do this project. So it’s a pretty large scale project,” said Owner of Nelson’s Seasonal Decor, Russ Nelson.

The use of LEDs are energy efficient, longer lasting, and costs less. Six local organizations have pledged to fund the project. With the completion of the light project it offers an advantage to Downtown Zanesville to attract more tourism and foot traffic to the area.

“It’s basically just to try to revitalize Downtown. And bring more people down to enjoy, walk the canal bank, walk back and forth between and enjoy the restaurants in the area,” said Nelson.

The lights are already installed within the bridge, testing of the lights will be taking place later this month.
