Z-ville Man Named In Federal Lawsuits/Genesis Responds

A Zanesville man is in the Muskingum County jail charged with a sex crime. Authorities say 32-year-old Stephen Meredith Jr. is facing one count of gross sexual imposition.
Meredith is also named in two separate federal lawsuits…one claims he sexually harassed another employee while he worked for Genesis Extended Care and Rehab Center. Genesis Director of Corporate communications Marsha Allen says the allegations do not involve or relate in any way to patient or resident care. Allen says neither Genesis HealthCare System nor Genesis Extended Care and Rehab, which was owned by Genesis at the time of the allegations, are the subject of this criminal investigation.
The second federal lawsuit states the hospital was made aware of Meredith sexually harassing the victim, but did nothing about it. Allen re-stated that none of allegations relate to patient care or resident care. And, Genesis investigated and addressed the allegations appropriately at the time they were brought to our attention and denies any liability. Genesis says it sold that facility in October of 2010.
