ZAAP Artist of the Month

The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project gallery has selected Rich Wieber as August’s featured ‘Artist of the Month.’
Wieber recently relocated to Zanesville from Newark, Ohio and considers his paintings to be a mixture of pop and contemporary art.
“I’ve featured large paintings a lot of time where one thing will be featured specifically like some of these down through here,” said wieber. “I’ve always enjoyed art and it’s mind relieving to sit in paint and create something. Hopefully you’ll get comments on it. If I get someone to say, that’s interesting that makes it comfortable to me.”
Wieber has been battling parkinson’s disease for the last 8 years and he said painting is a way of therapy for him.
“I worked in sells and people would be real kind about it, almost embarrassed to ask and I like to talk about it. I think anybody who has it needs to come up with a hobby to stay active. It’s been challenging. Straight lines are hard to come by anymore.”
Wieber’s artwork will on on display at the ZAAP gallery downtown for the entire month of August.
