ZAAP features student artists

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Art students will get the chance to show off their work through a neighboring art studio during the First Friday Art Walk.
Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project typically features members art for a full month. Starting in 2018 ZAAP decided to start featuring non-members as well. According to ZAAP’s Director Chloe Kohl, March’s First Friday Art Walk premieres Julie’s ARTery.
“We thought it would be a good idea if we reached out to other people in the community and wanted people who aren’t member artists to be featured artists,” Kohl said. “So we reached out to [Julie Goodall] to see if her students would want to be featured this month. She agreed and so we just thought it would be a good opportunity for her students to get there work shown somewhere else.”
Julie Goodall teaches art to school aged students as well as adults at her Masonic Temple studio. Goodall has been teaching various forms of art since 2000.
“I took lessons from [Julie Goodall] when I was younger,” Kohl said. “So I think it’s exciting that these kids, this is something they’re pursuing while they’re young and it’s not just something they have to do in school.
The students featured in this months First Friday Art Walk have provided their most recent art work to ZAAP and Julie’s ARTery has previously completed work as well as work that is still in progress.
Music will also be provided by Stoey Stout for the First Friday Art Walk. The First Friday Art Walk is March 2, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., and ZAAP is open every Thursday through Sunday between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
