ZAAP Gallery Celebrates 30 Years of Supporting Artists
ZANESVILLE, OH – ArtCOZ is shining a light on a hidden gem here in Zanesville.
The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project, more commonly known as the ZAAP Gallery, has been a part of the community for 30 years and is home to many new and experienced artists.
Shelby Spilker, the Director of the ZAAP, says regardless of your experience or art style, they accept anyone who wants to show off their art.
“We want to be able to support the whole community of artists,” Spilker said. “We want to provide a space, a home, for them especially after the fire at the Masonic Temple, a lot of people lost their space. So having a place here, where you can show and don’t have to worry about paying a bunch of fees or rent or anything, it’s just nice to support the community as a whole.”
Spilker says for those interested in getting involved with the ZAAP Gallery, the membership fee is only $35 for the whole year.
She says this would be a great experience for younger artists who are still working to hone their skills.
“ZAAP Gallery provides a community of established artists that can help new artists learn their way and learn how to do things correctly,” Spilker said. “It’s helped me a lot in my journey of starting off and I think it’s great to bring in the new artists with the old artists, where we can all kind of collaborate and get together.”
The ZAAP Gallery is located at 625 Main St. in downtown Zanesville.
