ZAAP November Artist of the Month
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Appalachian Art Project selected Shelby Spilker as the November Artist of the Month.
Spilker uses mediums she forages from nature to create her works, as well as using a pyrography unit to get all the tiny details.
Her love of woodworking and wood burning came from watching her grandfather when she was younger.
“I started out with just wood burning,” Spilker said.” “But I have stretched out and done some paintings and collages.”
Spilker is very excited to have been selected as the ZAAP Gallery’s Artist of the Month, as she only started getting serious about her art last October.
“I started to take my art more seriously about a year ago.” Spilker said. “But I’m very excited to be the Artist of the Month. I have had a few other shows but this is the first one where I feel like I’ve got more control over things.”
Spilker’s work will be on display at the ZAAP Gallery from 5 to 8 PM on Friday night. There will also be snacks, drinks from Weasel Boy Brewing Company, and live music.
