Honoring a Local Veteran

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â This week is peace week in Muskingum County and Tuesday’s theme is Veteran’s Appreciation Day.
Zane Grey Elementary Pre-K student’s participated in Veteran’s Appreciation Day. Mrs. Bracken’s preschool class colored 15 American flags and decorated the door of Mr. Roger, Zane Grey Elementary’s janitor, who also is a veteran.
“We started learning about patriotism,The Pledge of Allegiance, and the flag,” Mrs. Bracken said. “We wanted to show our appreciation to our very own veteran that we have at our school Mr. Roger. We wanted to show him how much we appreciate his years of service.”
Mrs. Bracken’s preschool students pointed out which flag they colored. They stood up and said The Pledge of Allegiance with each child placing their hand on their hearts. Mrs. Bracken tells us how her students felt while decorating Mr. Roger’s door.
“They were very excited. They love Mr. Roger. They love when he comes to visit us and appreciate everything he does here. We just wanted to show that he is never forgotten for anything that done in years past,” Mrs.Bracken said.
Wednesday is International Day of Peace which will feature a peace walk and food drive at Ohio University Zanesville.
