Zane Grey Students Give to Christ’s Table
Students of Zanesville City Schools donated more than 200 canned goods to Christ’s Table just in time for Thanksgiving.
The school district held its annual benevolent dinner Monday night for those who may not be able to receive a hot meal this Thursday. As part of the evening’s festivities, Zane Grey Intermediate School hosted a literacy night for students and their families. Both events were free of charge, but those in attendance were asked to bring a canned good of their choice to give back to others in the community.
“What we wanted to do was have students give back to the community by donating a canned good, to be able to give to another community partner, because we had a lot of community partners donate things for us to be able to give our families, so we wanted to the students give and not only receive,” said teacher, Caitlynn Boothe.
Zane Grey Intermediate continued its Thanksgiving tradition of giving, as the school presented Christ’s Table with a $100 check, in addition to the canned food donations. Executive director, Keely Warden, said the money will be used to finish preparing Thursday’s Thanksgiving feast.
“It was big surprise to get a $100 donation from the school, and we really appreciate that, that way we can go get the things and get a little bit of extras for Thursday, so we want to offer a big thank you to everybody that helped make that happen,” Warden said.
Christ’s Table will be open for Thanksgiving Dinner from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
