Zane State Freshmen back in School

As the middle of August nears, many kids are preparing to go back to school, but for freshmen at Zane State College, the first day has already arrived.

Freshmen began a week long First Year Experience orientation Monday. The college  has this each year to get the students ready for the first day of classes. Freshmen business management major, Hannah Coon and, alternative energy major, Justin Snider said it’s doesn’t seem real yet.

“It hasn’t hit me yet,” Coon said. “It’ll probably won’t hit me until the end of the year really.” Talking next to Coon in the same interview, Snider added “I’m excited for the next chapter in my life, but it just hasn’t hit yet.”

Nevertheless, students face a transitional phase from their high schools and into college life.

“I haven’t been up this early in awhile, so I’m tired, but I’m excited to start something new,” said associate science major, Jenna Berry.

“Terra McFarland is a high school senior completing post secondary education at Zane State. She said “It’s weird walking into a building I don’t know. It’s weird asking people where’s this room, where do I go? Where’s this building? But it’s new, it gets me out of my shell. It gets me talking to new people, making new friends.”

Classes begin for the whole school next Monday.
