ZANESVILLE, Ohio – At the Zanesville County Club Blue Devils squared off against Bishops on the golf course.

‘The Battle of the B’s Golf Challenge’ is a Ryder Cup style tournament that pits Zanesville High School alums versus Bishop Rosecrans’ alumni with proceeds raised from a silent auction going towards both school’s golf programs. Club pro Mike Durant said each team had 20 participants and that they hope to raise $1,000 for each school.

“What we try to do is feed off the competitive sprit that Zanesville and Rosecrans has. It’s a friendly rivalry and we thought that that passion could lead to a benefit where would could raise some money for the kids on each program,” said Durant.

This is the fifth year for the ‘Battle of the B’s’ with Rosecrans winning the first four years. Durant was hoping the Blue Devils would come through this year to try to even up the series.

“The early favorite would be Zanesville,” said Durant. “Rosecrans has won the first four. But Zanesville has a really good team. They are really motivated and want to come out and change the trend and get Zanesville started on the winning track.”

Durant’s prediction came true as team ZHS bested the Bishops Monday afternoon for the first time ever.
