Zanesville Boys Win Sectional Title; West Muskingum Girls advance to District Final

The Zanesville Blue Devils treated their fans to some thrilling finishes in the regular season. In the tournament, the Blue Devil faithful are thrilled that they can relax while watching their favorite team. For the second straight game, Zanesville’s lock-down defense and hot shooting has humbled a Division I Central District opponent. Pickerington North managing only 30 points, the third lowest total Zanesville has allowed this season. The Blue Devils have now held 19th seeded St. Charles and 13th seeded Pickerington North to a combined 56 points in two games.
Two seniors leading the Blue Devils tonight, Christian Myers showing that ankle is no worse for ware with a game high 18 points, the only player in the game to reach double digits in scoring. Defensively, Kade Haddox pestered Jake Butt, the Panthers best player, holding the Michigan football recruit to just six points.
Zanesville now advancing to take on Columbus Northland, the number one seed in the Central District, and the Division I AP State Champs this season in Ohio. Northland won the first game at Marysville high school this evening, scoring 103 points in the victory over the lowest seeded team in the Central District, Columbus West.
