Zanesville Breaks Ground on Munson Crossing Workforce Housing

ZANESVILLE, OH – On March 7th, a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of construction for Munson Crossing, a new workforce housing development at 108 Brighton Boulevard in Zanesville.

This project is set to feature approximately 40 units and will stand on the grounds of the former Munson Elementary School.

The school was demolished last year by the Muskingum County Land Bank using state brownfield funding. The demolition paved the path for addressing the community’s need for high quality and affordable housing.

“I think in terms of Zanesville housing is such a critical piece. Everything stems from it. In terms of improving people’s lives and enhancing their quality of life, it really comes down to having high quality affordable housing which is what we’re doing,” Woda Cooper Companies Vice President -Development, Jonathan McKay said.

Zanesville’s community has worked together to draw in public, private, and nonprofit resources to support Munson Crossing and address community housing needs.

“The collaboration between the Port Authority, the City of Zanesville, and Muskingum County, with everyone really coming together we can do great things. I think this project is a great example of that,” McKay said.

This project is expected to be completed in 2025.
