Zanesville City Council Holds Last Meeting of 2015
With the new year, comes new changes to Zanesville City Council.
With a vote of 9-0, officials passed an ordinance to increase salaries of elected officials. Monday marked the last council meeting of 2015, and the last day of service for three council members: Grant Hutcheson, David Tarbert, and Rob Sharrer.
"After 20 years on council, I’ve obviously worked with dozens of other council members," said Councilman David Tarbert. "All of them have been incredibly dedicated civil servants. This is the most hard working, most dedicated, most intelligent group of council members that I’ve had the privilege of working with. You’ve got a good mix of Republicans and Democrats. One of the things I’m most proud of is, on any substantive issue over the last 20 years, we’ve never voted along party lines."
Tarbert said everyone on city council does what is best for the city. He has mixed emotions about leaving, but he is confident in our city council.
"I think it’s time though. Steve Foreman will be taking over the 5th Ward seat. I know he will continue to be an at large council person. We’re getting several new council people that I’m very excited about. I feel the same way about them. They’re very hard working, very dedicated. I know they will continue to help take the city forward," said Tarbert.
Tarbert is leaving his 5th Ward seat to serve as Zanesville’s newly elected Law Director. His first day at the new job is January 4th.
