ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville City Schools Hall of Fame Committee announced its class of 2019.

The Hall of Fame started in 2007 with its mission to recognize the men and women who have displayed outstanding ability in organized high school sports, academics, and curricular activities. Also including those who have shared their service to the advancement of Zanesville City Schools. The Hall of Fame event will take place on Saturday, April 13th including a dinner and an induction ceremony.

“We feel it’s nice to recognize those people who have contributed in many ways to the progress of the Zanesville City Schools,” said President of the Zanesville City Schools Hall of Fame Committee, Wayne Carpenter.

Eight new members will be inducted to the Hall of Fame. These people had to be nominated by the members of the community. They are then chosen by the Hall of Fame committee, where they need to receive 75 percent of votes to become selected. The members will receive a crystal award at the ceremony and will have their picture added to the Zanesville High School Hall of Fame wall.

The new members are as follows:

  • Donald Doser
  • Steven Hodge
  • Jeffrey Hurst
  • Cindy Linn
  • John McIntire
  • Whit Parks
  • William Shinnick
  • William Straker

“Probably 80 percent are alumni. But there are other people who have contributed a lot of outstanding services to the Zanesville schools and are chosen to be in the Hall of Fame,” said Carpenter.

The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at Zanesville High School at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25, and can be purchased at the Zanesville City Schools Administration Center.
