Zanesville City Schools Employee Facing Sexual Battery Charges

Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury says a Zanesville City Schools employee is facing charges in connection with alleged misconduct with a juvenile student. Coury says 34-year-old Michael Law of Zanesville has been charged with two counts of Sexual Battery. The Chief says the department’s detective bureau received information from a Zanesville City School resource officer about the incident which was investigated. Chief Coury says detectives worked with Muskingum County Children’s Service and Nationwide Children’s Hospital and then the case was presented to Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox for charges. Law is currently being held in the City Jail on $100,000 bond. No other information is being released at this time.
Zanesville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Doug Baker issued the following statement about the incident:
“The Zanesville City Schools District received a report of allegations against a staff member yesterday morning and immediately removed the staff member from the District’s premises. The District is following all laws and Board policies and will fully cooperate with law enforcement while the matter is investigated.”
