Zanesville Civic League To Repair Gym Floor

The Zanesville Civic League Community Center is going to begin a new project beneficial to the area.

The ordinance regarding repairs to the center’s gym floor passed as emergency during the Zanesville City Council meeting Monday evening. Civic League Director Howard Bailey told us more about the state of the gym.

“Right now the gym floor is in pretty bad shape. It hasn’t been finished in a while and it has a life expectancy of 25 years and it’s about 5 years past that.”

According to Bailey, the project will cost an estimated $40,000 and will be funded through a grant from the city. Bailey said it will allow them to reach out to Zanesville residents.

“This is going to be a great benefit to the community. We’re going to start having some tournaments, we’re going to start having some leagues. Adult and youth leagues and it’s going to create a great opportunity for the community to be able to get fit and stay fit.”

The project is expected to begin during the end of August and should only take about two weeks to complete. The Civic League will be closed during the time of the repairs.
