Zanesville Electric Bills to Drop
ZANESVILLE, OH – Zanesville residents are set to see a reduction in their electricity bills.
Residents in Zanesville may have noticed letters in their mailboxes regarding an electric aggregation agreement, which was set in motion following a vote last November, to secure better rates for the community. The agreement secured by the city and county means that the energy consumption for the area has been bid out, resulting in a saving of just over one cent per kilowatt-hour.
“The average home is going to see about a $9 to $20 decrease in price of electricity itself. If a person does not want to be a part of that program, they can opt out. There’ll be a phone number and an email in that letter that you received from Dynegy,” Mayor of Zanesville, Don Mason said.
The city and the county’s joint effort has led to an overall saving of around 15% on electricity bills for the community. However, participation in the program is not mandatory.
“Where I come from, saving money on a bill is always a good thing. In a few months from now, if a person wants to opt out and go to a supplier, they can do that. But, that supplier’s going to have to do better than the city county plan is.” Mason said.
For more information on how to opt out or to learn more about the electric aggregation agreement, please refer to the details provided in the letter.
