Muskingum County EMA Addresses Temporary Tornado Siren Unavailability

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency has issued a public announcement regarding the temporary unavailability of the tornado siren located at Gant Stadium.
Beginning November 6th, the siren will be out of service as the City of Zanesville works on much needed renovations for the stadium.
“Our tornado siren is located at Gant Stadium on West Main Street. The city is doing an upgrade to the electrical system there at the stadium, so, they’re going to be disconnecting it for several weeks.” EMA Director, Jeff Jadwin said.
To ensure the community continues to receive timely tornado warnings, a portable battery unit will be placed at the Gant Stadium location, guaranteeing that the area remains secure during this temporary period.
“We’ll put the temporary siren out there. We’ll still do our weekly test at noon on Wednesday’s. This winter if we have heavy ice, we will not do the weekly test.” Jadwin said.
The duration of this renovation project has not yet been determined.
