Zanesville Fire Department Celebrates Thanksgiving
Unfortunately, tragedies don’t always stop for holidays, and the firefighters at the Zanesville Fire Department are always ready in the case of an emergency. That doesn’t mean, though, they can’t enjoy a delicious meal for the holiday.
Those working at the Zanesville Fire Department today sat down at Noon, on Thanksgiving, to enjoy some time with their families.
John Rodman, a firefighter at Zanesville Fire Department told us, "Well usually on the holiday’s we have our families come in and have a big meal. We kinda cheated, we got the pick and save meals all ready cooked, so we’re just reheating stuff and we would like to thank Heavenly Ham they donated a ham to us today, so that’s nice."
However, if your job is to protect the people of Zanesville, thanksgiving is a working holiday.
"We don’t look at it like that, we’re actually having a good time, our families are all coming in and they know each other so it’s like a big family here too. We hope not, but we usually get calls," said Rodman.
When those calls do come in, that means it’s time to get back to work. We would like to take this time to say thank you to all the firefighters, police, and first responders who keep us safe, not just on Thanksgiving, but every day of the year.
