Zanesville Fire Department Enjoys Christmas Together
While we gather around the tree to open up gifts. Others are clocking in for another day on the job.
These members of our community risk their lives each time they report to work to ensure you and your loved ones are safe each day and firefighter Lieutenant Patrick Stanbery said Christmas Day is no different.
“Working on Christmas is really no different than any other day. Unfortunately, emergencies don’t take a break just because it’s the holidays. We just kind of make due. We just kind of change our plans a little bit. I’ll do Christmas with my family tomorrow instead of doing it today. Other than that it’s just a typical day,” said Stanbery.
Although they aren’t taking the day off. Stanbery said he and his work family will still enjoy a Christmas dinner donated by Honey Baked Ham.
“I don’t feel like I’m missing out on too much. This is kind of like my extended family. I’m with these guys every third day as it is anyways. It’s like another family to me. Even though I’m missing the rest of my family. I’ll still got these guys to hang out with on the holidays. It’s pretty nice,” said Stanbery.
Standbery said being a firefighter is the best job in the world.
