Zanesville Firefighters collect donations for the “Fill the Boot” fundraiser

Firefighters were located on Bell street and the entrance of Wal-Mart earlier on Friday collecting donations from drivers to help fight muscular dystrophy for this years “Fill the Boot” fundraiser.
Chad Brock, Firefighter at the Zanesville Fire Department said that he’s been at the fire department for four years and every year he participates in the event because it’s for a good cause.
“Most of the money goes towards research, but they also provide support for the families as well as providing kids the opportunity to go to MDA camp in the summer.”
Brock said that they had a pretty good turn out on Friday and they brought some extra in to cover the shifts at the department incase they get called out to an accident.
“We’ve tried to overlap the shifts today. Â We got the central as well as the north station up here so that way if something were to happen we could leave.”
Firefighters and volunteers will be collecting donations again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Zane street.
