Zanesville Fireworks Display To Move To New Location
The Stars and Stripes on the River will be moving the fireworks display to a new location in town this year.
Fireworks will not be lit across from Zane’s Landing as they have in the past, but rather from the Main Street leg of the historic Y-Bridge. Pyrotechnician of Record, Stephen Vincent told us more about the reasoning behind the move.
“It’s a safety issue, no buildings in the fallout zone, no people in the fallout zone.” Said Vincent, “A little easier to control. We have three points of access, so unless you’re swimming, you’re not going to be able to sneak up on me.”
At 9PM this Saturday, the Main Street Leg of the Y-Bridge will be closed to traffic. The whole Y-Bridge will be closed during the time of the display. Vincent said they will try to open it as soon as they can after the display is over. As always, the Vincent family will be the ones to send the shells sailing this year. Stephen said not only will there be a change in location, but a change in the display as well.
“This will be the largest show we’ve ever done in the City of Zanesville. For years and years we’ve kept it the same–same amount of money and this year they’ve got more money. They worked out a deal with Hamburg on some advertising and so forth and this will be the largest show we’ve ever shot. Largest dollar amount and largest number of shells we’ve ever shot in the city.”
Vincent said every three seconds a new shell will be in the air. The fireworks display will be paid for by the Jaycee’s and will be from 9:45PM to 10:15PM on the 4th.
