ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Fraternal Order of Eagles #302 spread some “good-will” to Goodwill by presenting them with a check for needed upgrades.

The Eagles donated $9,260 to upgrade the sidewalks and ramp at the West Pike store to make it more handicap accessible. Dan Hartman, the Vice President of Goodwill of Southeast Ohio and Northwest West Virginia, says this will make it easier for those who use a walker or a wheelchair.

“This is going to make life better for those that are in assisted walking devices, getting in and out of the building,” Hartman said. “The majority of the people we hire have barriers to employment and this will really help them.”

Douglas Geyer, the Financial Secretary at the Eagles, says they raised the fund through different events the Eagles host.

“We raise the funds through charity events, we have a charity fund off of the gambling.” Geyer said. “All the money is collected and put into our charity foundation. We then do everything we possibly can to help local charities.”

Hartman said this means a lot to them to be able to provide a better work space for their employees.

“These are the kind of things you would like to do, but don’t always have the funds to do,” Hartman said. “This is one of those projects, but with this donation we’re looking to get it done this year.”

The Eagles also presented South Zanesville Fire Chief, Russell Taylor, with the heat seeking cameras from the check they received in October.
