Light the Night in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Hundreds of people came together to light the night Thursday.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society hosted their annual Light the Night campaign at Ohio University Zanesville to support their mission which is to cure blood cancers and provide patient support both financially and educationally.
“And we’re here in Zanesville to celebrate with all of our blood cancer patients and all of our blood cancer friends that we’ve lost,” said Chelsea Dropik, member of the The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Fellow society member Katie Peck said this nationwide campaign is so important to their cause and they are so thankful for everyone who came out. They even have colored lanterns to represent the many reasons people may be out helping light the night.
“If they are a survivor they carry a white lantern, if they’re walking in memory of someone they’ve lost they carry a gold lantern and if they are just here supporting the cause because they want to see an end to blood cancer then they carry a red lantern,” Peck said.
Peck said Zanesville is an awesome community that came out so strong and they are so thankful for all the support people are giving to their mission. WHIZ radio personality Brenda Larrick was the emcee for the event again this year.
