ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville native, Andrew Body, is making an appearance on a new TV show “Superhuman” for his mathematical abilities.

According to the Superhuman press release the show is a competition based series where five contestants who have super-human abilities in memory, hearing, taste, touch, smell, sight and more are challenged. Each contestant is given one chance to impress the judges to win the $50,000 prize. The panelists are Mike Tyson, Christina Milian and Dr. Rahul Jandial. While the show is hosted by Kal Penn.

“Kal Penn was very down to earth, which was refreshing,” Body said. “I didn’t have a whole lot of interaction with Mike Tyson or Christina Milian. There was a neurosurgeon [Dr. Rahul Jandial] there as well and he was a pretty friendly guy and personable.”

Body became a contestant when his boss Brian Stewart of B.W.S. Education Consulting in Columbus, Ohio was called by FOX about possibly having a special talent for math. Stewart declined and suggested Body had an excellent talent for solving equations.

“When they first gave me a call I didn’t take it particularly seriously, you know FOX is calling me,” Body said. “What a surreal experience, but the more we talked and kept going through these different steps and I thought this might be a real thing.”

While some may think that anyone that is talented at a skill truly likes the skill, Body expressed he doesn’t necessarily enjoy math, it was just something he noticed he had an ability for. So Body just started doing some mental math.

“I started doing some of those things and got to the point where I’ve gotten to be kind of good at it,” Body said. “So I wouldn’t say that math is and I had to list 400 favorite things. You know root canals would probably be above math, but it’s just something I was blessed with.”

Body is not different from any other person in how math is incorporated into his lifestyle.

“It gives me sort of just an intellectual outlet in that when I see numbers it gives me something to do,” Body said. “As much as I dislike math I find it strangely fulfilling just to divide something and be able to come up with an answer. As far as ‘do I go to Kroger and add up my grocery bill, no.’ I just check the per ounce price same as everybody else and just buy the cheapest things.”

Body will be a contestant on the second episode of Superhuman on FOX. The episode will air on June 19, 2017 at 9:00 p.m.
