Zanesville man standing up for developmental disabilities

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One of Zanesville’s very own is stepping up in a big way for developmental disabilities.
Ron Pyle is an Advocacy Representative for the Starlight Program and he was selected to serve on the Region 4 board for People First of Ohio. The first meeting will be next month in Bellville, Ohio and this will give Pyle the chance to meet all of the board members and learn what his responsibilities will be.
“I guess it encourages me to look ahead to what I can do and what everyone else can do,” Pyle said. “Go for it. The sky’s the limit, I guess you could say.”
Pyle said he hopes this shows people what someone can do with whatever disability a person has. People First of Ohio is a board made up of members with disabilities. They are working to help all people with disabilities feel as if their voices are being heard and they are being treated as equal.
Missy Hartley, Community Network Coordinator for the Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities, said they are all very excited for him.
“What I hope for Ron is that he’ll continue to grow as a leader,” Hartley said. “So he can continue to move forward and go farther in his career and what he wants to do as a leader.”
If you are interested in following Pyle’s journey you can call the Muskingum County Board of Developmental Diseases anytime and ask to talk to him. Also if anyone with developmental disabilities is interested in being a part of the People First group they can ask for Missy. The number to call is (740) 453-3544.
