Zanesville Memorial Concert Band looking to fill artistic director position

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band is searching for a new Artistic Director.

Band President Chad Stemm described the artistic director as the person who stands in front of the band, directing them.  Stemm said he is looking for somebody who has a degree in music, experience with directing concert bands and has band and literature knowledge.

“We need a director in order to plan next season,” Stemm said. “This is our biggest thing right now, is to hunt the new director. We really need to find somebody soon to plan the season out. As well as to also make sure that we have the assistant artistic director and personnel director in place.”

Stemm said some other responsibilities of the artistic director are overseeing the programming, deciding on the music selection, rehearsing the band, setting the schedule, working with board members, and last but not least working with the public.

“Somebody that can fill the position and does really well. Jeff really took us to a place, the band is more popular now.”
