ZANESVILLE, Ohio– The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band had its final concert of the season.

The performance took place at Zane’s Landing Park for the second and final time this summer. Guest conductor and composer David Schubach said there is a unique feeling in the air when it’s the last concert of the season.

“It’s a wonderful thing to be the last concert of the season because there’s an extra special energy,” said Schubach. “We won’t be back again until next year. The weather is just perfect tonight. We’re going to have great fun here.”

The concert featured guest conductors Dr. David Turrill and Schubach. Turrill said he is appreciative of this opportunity to guest conduct, something he often is asked to do as a professor at Muskingum University.

“I play Trumpet in the band and when Janine (Schmelzer Bock) asked me if I would guest conduct,” said Turrill. “I gleefully accepted and said I’d love to do it.”

The band performed ten songs including “Americans We” and Highlights from “Star Trek into Darkness.”
