Zanesville Mother to Be Charged for Saturday Incident

The Zanesville Police Department says a two-year-old remains a patient at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, following a Saturday night incident.

Patrolman Barnhart says 27-year-old Kayla Jordan claims to have put her daughter in the back seat of the car and locked her in with the seat belt, but police say the girl was not in a child safety seat.

He says it appears while Jordan was backing out of her Cliffwood Avenue driveway, the daughter unlocked her seatbelt, opened the door, and fell out of the car. Barnhart says the mother was unaware of the incident and proceeded to run the girl over with her car.

She was immediately taken to Good Samaritan Hospital before being transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

Barnhart says Jordan will be charged with child endangerment. He also says Children’s Services has put a safety plan into action and all the woman’s children are currently in their father’s care.
