Zanesville Museum of Art continues its Inventory Project

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- ArtCoZ has selected the Zanesville Museum of Art as its Artist/Venue of the month.

While the museum has been closed to the public, they’ve been conducting a full inventory of its collection. This will provide greater accessibility for the public to follow along with the process and see the items the museum has.

“We use the time that we were seeing lower attendance, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, to really explore what we have in our collection, photograph it, digitize it and get it online to the public,” ZMA Executive Director Laine Snyder said.

The Zanesville Museum of Art plans to re-open in the fall, as the inventory is estimated to finish around September. While the inventory process has taken a lot of work and planning, Snyder hopes the public will embrace the online collection.

“In a nutshell, we bring everything up from collection storage, and collection storage is really the size of this great gallery, so it’s a really large space for the size of the museum. We bring everything upstairs, all 8,000 objects. We lay them all out, photograph them and do a condition report just to make sure that we know they’re in stable condition and then we put everything back downstairs,” Snyder said.

You can follow along with the inventory project by visiting the ZMA website at www.zanesvilleart.org.
